This is the moment you have all been waiting for ... like excited children the night before Christmas, you’ve been watching the drought break and dreaming of slipping and sliding around the Hawke's Bay on your mud tires: otherwise known as Cyclocross. Well your dreams are only seven days away from becoming reality. Father Christmas has ditched the baggy red suit for a bright red Lycra Onesie and put a brand new shiny Cyclocross series under the tree.
Cyclocross Hawke's Bay is pleased to announce the Bay Ford 2020 Cyclocross Series, six races, starting next weekend ... yes, Sunday 7 June ... at one of our favourite venues, Guppy Road.
This year we’ve bringing back all the traditional favourites like:
Free under 12 Kids events
CX30 and CX45 races
Free Bay Espresso Coffee (from the urn) for the adults at the finish line
Ginger beers and fries are once again planned for our Black Barn events.
My Ride Muc-Off bike clean stations
PLUS
A CX30 relay option
A CX20 Under 15 category
Trade Aid hot chocolate and marshmallows for the kids.
Of course, nothing is 100% back to normal in this time of Covid 19, there are a few tweaks we have to make to ensure you don’t all catch cooties off each other. Here is how we’ll roll for 2020 level 2 racing:
ONLINE ENTRY ONLY
Yep, no turning up at 9:55 am with $15 grubby cash in you pocket, pleading with Helen to late enter you, while everyone else is trying to run the kids race (you know who you are). This year you will have to get organised and enter before the race starts. This allows us to track everyone on site, plus keep an eye on those total numbers.
SPECTATORS NEED TO REGISTER ONLINE TOO!
If you are not technically able to do this, then please send us an email and we’ll help you process your entry.
SERIES ENTRY IS THE WAY TO GO
Because of the transaction fees we are charged for each entry, there is a $3 fee for each entry you put through. If you enter the six events separately, you’ll pay $3 per event in transaction fees.
Therefore we’ve dropped the series entry to $70 for all six races, and you only pay one set of fees for the whole series. You save about $40.
There are a specific set of rules that we’ll be following on the day in order to stay safe, and we’ll be emailing out a race day protocol for everyone, so keep an eye out for that in due course.
