Nelson MTB Club CX #4

Cyclocross racing in Nelson, on New Zealand’s South Island.

Entries for this race are now open! You can enter this race by clicking here.

From the website of organisers Nelson Mountain Bike Club:
NMTBC’s CX Series is focused on fun and friendly competition. We encourage new riders to CX racing through this series.

Similar to XC, Cyclocross (CX) sees riders completing laps of a mixed terrain/obstacle course. There is a time limit usually between 40 minutes to an hour, and the person to complete the most laps in that time is the winner! Obstacles can include trails, roads, paddocks, fences, trees, horse jumps, steps, whatever else the organiser can think of! And yes, you must take your bike with you through and over all of these things! Fancy dress is often donned, and kids races are commonly a part of the Nelson CX scene.

Acknowledgement: This race takes place in the Nelson area, traditionally inhabited by the iwi of the Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Tūmatakōkiri, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō and Rangitāne peoples. CX Down Under acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we ride, and their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
